Ok so yesterday I nearly gave up. It was TERRIBLE!! She was napping 30 minutes tops, and staying awake for 4+ hours! I was at my wits end yesterday. The straw that broke was when she woke up at 10:30pm to eat, I laid her back down for (wishing) the night, and 5 minutes later she was up crying. She didn't go back down until 1:30am. She was crying, and fussing, and climbing all over me because I picked her up and decided to hold her for a minute until she went back to sleep. She would.not.stop... After 2 hours of that I laid her in her bed because I couldn't take it any more. Another hour of going in and out of her room was increasing my being upset at the whole situation. Finally my mom intervened and sat with Piper until she finally stopped crying and fell asleep. My mom said she kept reaching and leaning toward the door. That crushed my heart. I felt so bad for getting so upset with her not going to sleep. But I knew I couldn't handle it any more which is why I allowed my mom to intervene. But she finally went to sleep, and didn't wake up until 8:15am. That was AMAZING.
Today she was MUCH better. She took a 3 hour nap and it wasn't so difficult to lay her down. After that nap she took an hour nap. But after that she wouldn't lay down... I fought her again for over an hour, then I brought her out while we ate dinner and sat her in her chair to eat a cookie. Then I bathed her, fed her and put her to bed! With out a fight! It was glorious. Though I did rock her for about 3 minutes. It is now 2 hours later and she is still sleeping! I love it. Things are going well, though I'm not doing things by the book... I'm finding solace in this because I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. We'll see if I'm singing the same tune in a few days...
Have you ever thought about Noah?

I don't believe in doing things "by the book." I believe in doing what works best for you and your family. :) With Carson we took bits and pieces from a variety of strategies and made our own that worked for us, and it was perfect for him. Good luck getting some sleep!
