6 month checkup!!!!!

Today we went to the children's clinic in Laramie. I was really excited to see what Pipers stats were because last time she was 50% in height and head, but she dropped from 50% to 25% in weight. I was so concerned that she wasn't getting enough that I decided to start her on solids a month early. I was initially going to start her at 6 months, but I decided it was best for her health to start her earlier.

So I was REALLY looking forward to that part of her appointment. I WAS planning on taking pictures of her in the doctors office but I forgot my stupid phone in the car... Oh we'll. so the nurse takes us back, and tells me to strip her down and get her on the scale. I was thinking she HAD to be at least 16+ pounds. NOPE! She is 15.1 lbs... 25th percentile still. Lol I just have a skinny baby. The exciting part though she grew 2 1/4 inches since her last wellness check up! She is now 26 1/4" long!!! 75th percentile!!!!! She jumped from 50% to 75%! I was really excited about that. And for her head... Well she takes after me with that... It's 16 3/4 inches around. 60th percentile. Lol she has a big noggin. ("It's like Sputnik, it's round but spherical at points")

The doctor was really excited about her growth and assured me that I shouldn't worry about her weight. That she is growing perfectly and proportionally. This made me feel better. Like Dave says, she is going to be an amazon woman, tall and skinny.

Piper has a big aversion to fruit. Even the doctor was baffled by this. "That's usually the easy food!" She said. So she suggested finger foods or "teething biscuits" to help with textures and possibly the fruit. She said its also great for her sore gums. Even though she doesn't have teeth trying to pop up yet, she is nawing on things, especially her paci. After meeting with the doc and getting some questions answered, two nurses came in to give Piper her shots. She got 3 vaccines and a flu shot. One of the reasons why I LOVE the children's clinic in Laramie is because when Piper gets shots they tag team her. So the two nurses hold her down AND give her shots in both legs. Then they walk away while she's crying and I get to swoop in and save the day! It's great because I am NOT a fan of holding my baby down for shots. I like being the good guy.

So after I saved the day, we went to Walmart and bought the items suggested by the doctor plus a sippy cup and some juice. When we got home I gave her one of each and she LOVED them! I gave her a bath this morning before her appt but she made such a big mess I had to bathe her AGAIN! Lol but it was so worth it.

So all in all Pipers stats are:
Weight: 15lbs 1oz
Height: 26 3/4 inches
Head: 16 3/4 inches

Milestones:
Rolling over in all directions
Babbling (mamma, mom, yum, baba, mmmm)
Laughing
Standing firm on her feet with help
Sitting on her own
Passing toys/objects from hand to hand
Reaches out for things she wants
Mimics some actions
